Happy Birthday...Me:)

Sunday was my birthday.  Josh baked me a cake, got me a card, and let me take a nice long afternoon nap while he watched football.  It was a very nice relaxing day.  On Friday we got a babysitter (our neighbor that does chores for us when we travel) and went out on a date.  Josh took me to Almont to go ice skating.  They had just gotten the ice finished.  Josh shoveled off a small part and we spent a while skating.  It was a lot of fun!  We then went out to Sunset Cafe for burgers.  It was a really great birthday!

I had a diabetes appointment and OB appointment on Friday morning.  Both went well.  The baby's heartbeat is at a strong 152.  My A1C is 5.9 which is in normal range (my OB/GYN was excited about that).  My next appointment we get to have the ultrasound and see the baby :).

Josh stayed at home with the kids, so when I was finished with my appointments I went to do some shopping for the church.  We have a Valentine Supper every year that the high school kids serve, so I was picking up all the none perishable food for that (The only thing I have left to get is the lettuce salad).  You wouldn't believe how heavy my carts were at Walmart and Sam's Club.  It was really nice to not have John and Olue with me (they wouldn't have fit in the cart....And they wouldn't have like that kind of shopping).

Olue has started to stand on her own.  She gets up into her sumo squat and then she slowly raises to a stand.  She usually does it in the kitchen and her socks make her slowly slip down to the splits.  It's really cute.  We get really excited for her and clap and say "Yay!  Lu Lu standing!"  She gets really excited and starts clapping too.  It's really cute!  Johnny always comes running to tell me if she's doing it when I'm not in the room.  Josh said that she took one step from that stance on Friday morning, but we haven't seen another step since.

Johnny now thinks he needs to get up really early.  I think he just doesn't get worn out enough during the day when he can't get outside to play.  We've started to tell him that he needs to stay in bed until Mommy comes to get him at 7:30.  One morning he opened Lu Lu's door and turned on her light (we weren't too happy about that.)

Lu Lu liked Mommy's birthday cake.  I think she's forgotten the candle burning experience.

Happy Birthday Mom!

We went to my Mom and Dad's for the weekend.  It was Mom's birthday on Sunday.  We celebrated with crock pot chocolate cake on Saturday night.  Josh helped Dad put steel on the roof of one of the old pig barns that he's using as a storage building.  We had a good time.  Johnny finally got to go sledding again.  We got enough snow for me to pull him around in the sled on Saturday morning (before it melted).  Johnny loves to see the cows.  We had a really great time!  We enjoyed visiting together and watching football.  Mom and Dad both had relapses on their colds over the weekend.  So that was kind of a bummer.  Hopefully they both feel a whole lot better really soon.  John and Olue are getting over their colds.  This morning was the first morning that they both got up without any crusted snot on either of their faces...Yay!

Dad playing with Johnny and Lu

Playing Cowboys and Indians
Mom and Dad tore down a building this fall.  Dad found his old Cowboy and Indian toys as they were demolishing the building.  He washed them up and had a great time playing with John.
Daddy feeding Lu Lu

I went downstairs to get some potatoes to bake for supper and when I came back up, this is what I found...
Lu and Johnny with their pants on their heads

Lu:  "This is fun!"  John:  "This feels weird."

Lu readjusted her turbine, while John is wondering why we're still taking pictures.

We finally got the pic we wanted...This is what they looked like when I came up the stairs.  They were both crawling toward me smiling and giggling!!!  They are so cute.
Dad always has fun ideas to get the kids playing well together.  Lu Lu had been crying, trying to follow me when I had gone downstairs.  What a game he started to get her happy!

Josh had today off work.  We got all our seeds ordered today.  It's nice to have that done.  It's exciting to look ahead to summer time and our plans, but it's nice to know that it's only January and we have some time left to relax before the crazy summer begins.

I can finally feel the baby for sure (I was sure if it was the baby or just gas up until now).  It's really reassuring to feel him move around throughout the day.

Finally Caught Up!

I am finally caught up with putting pictures on the blog....Whew!  Now hopefully I can post once a week again instead of everyday for a whole week.
I'm finally getting over my cold.  I think the kids are on the upswing of the cold.  They're still pretty snotty, but they're acting more normal and enjoy playing together and with Mommy and Daddy.
I was able to go to the church two mornings this week and bring them with.  They were both very good there.  I'm looking forward to having some time to work at the church this winter (with happy kids), since my office has been kind of neglected for the last say year (since Lu was born).  On the surface it looks okay...just don't open any drawers or coupboards.;)
The weather is now cold.  We were enjoying the nice warm weather lately, but it's hard to work on winter projects when you can be outside playing in the sandbox with the kids.  We don't like the new cold, but it'll be good for the plants and good for getting to work on our winter projects before we get too deep into the spring ones.  We're already making plans for spring with the garden maps and hopefully a seed order this weekend.
Now that I'm over that awful cold I'm starting to think about New Year's Resolutions.  I think I'm going to be more organized this year.  I started yesterday, and it's helping me be way more productive.  Hopefully I can keep up with it.  Josh and I have also started getting up earlier (I know...Why? right?).  We wanted to have time to pray together in the mornings.  It's been really nice (once I'm out of bed).
Hope you're all having a great new year and are staying warm during our new cold snap!

Happy Birthday Lu Lu!

Happy Birthday Lu Lu!  You are already one year old!  Wow!

We celebrated Olue's birthday for about a week.  Mom and Dad came for a long New Years weekend to celebrate Olue's birthday, and then all of her birthday mail was spread throughout the week, so we just kept celebrating!:)

Johnny drinking milk like a kitty.
Johnny loves cheerios and milk.  He especially likes to drink the milk when all the cheerios are gone.

This is why Lu doesn't like the paper...Johnny just disregards it and throws it at her when not looking.

We did have fun playing though:)

Lu Lu One Year Old!
This started out as such a nice birthday supper.  I made a homemade yellow cake and we were going to eat it with stawberries and cool whip.  Johnny wanted to help show Lu how to blow out the candle, but before he could come over, Lu had pinched the flame out with her finger.  Here on out she didn't want anything to do with that cake!
"It hurt me Mommy!"

Look at those eyes!

"I do not like you!"

"Maybe I'll try a bite."

"I love the cake!!!"

"I don't know about this whole birthday cake thing."

"This is some good cake!"

"I got a teddy from my Godmother Katie!"

Bath time fun

I'm not sure why this one is on it's side??

Getting ready for church.

That's some big hair Lu Lu.  I don't think you nee the brush anymore.:)

Lu Lu has had enough of this Christmas present stuff!
We had a fun day at Grandma and Grandpa Hayes house.  Lu again slept through gift opening.  She likes all of her gifts now that she's at home and can play with them by herself and with none of that wrappings and boxes and stuff that comes with new things.:)
