Spring Has Sprung

Spring is finally here!  I know because on the weekends Josh is up, outside, and done with chores before I am even out of bed.  (Josh is a winter hibernater and likes to stay in bed til John gets him out of bed because breakfast is ready.)  Josh did a bunch of tilling this weekend...the potato garden, house garden, both pasture gardens, rows in the new strawberry bed, and an addition to the paddock garden.  He cut down the pea shrubs in the backyard and we brought the brush down to the pasture...a new brush pile started.  (He just informed me that he also....changed oil in the tiller and the car and got the lawn mower running.)  I trimmed the geraniums and moved them into the shop.  It's so nice to have them out of the house (they were invading John's room, Olue's room, and the dining room.)  We also started to clean up the rest of the brush pile that Jared and Thomas helped him burn.  Josh even started our first campfire for me...It was very short since it was way to cold and reminded us of our honeymoon camping trip in October of 2008.

John likes to help.  When we were moving the pea shrub brush, he got really upset.  We finally realized that he just wanted to help, so we had him pick up the little sticks and bring them to the truck.  John's biggest frustration right now is communicating.  He keeps telling us stuff, but we don't understand a lot of it...then the tears come.  We're understanding more and more everyday though.  His newest word is "Ogerlr" (Yogurt).

Olue got to come outside for the first time yesterday.  It seemed like she liked it.  The fresh air really wore her out though.  Went to bed early and slept really well last night.  John was pretty upset that she was in his stroller.  He even laid down and pretended to be hurt so that I would come pick him up (his trick didn't work:).  We told him that he's a big boy now and can walk on his own.

Celery

Peppers

Cabbage

Kohlrabi and Onions
Our seedlings are doing really well in the house.  I can't believe how much better they look this year compared to the last two years.  Josh says that it's because he has been the one taking care of them.  I think it's because we've been keeping the house warmer for Olue (her room is freezing!).
