Chicken Butchering

Johnny and Jeremiah

Cookie Mess
Josh took Johnny with him to do the CSA delivery.  I was baking cookies and some other things.  Lu Lu was starting to be a pickle, so to keep her busy I gave her a cookie and let her destroy it in her highchair.  I was letting the cookies cool on the table in front of her.  She ate the first one, then asked for another one.  She pretty much just crumbled the second one.  She was a mess when I got done, but easy to clean up and it  kept her busy.:)

Mom & Dad and Jared & Stacie came out to help us butcher chickens.  The plan was to butcher half on Friday morning and the rest on Saturday morning.  Josh was worried that we wouldn't be able to butcher Friday morning because of predicted T-storms, so he did a pen Thursday morning (which I got bagged right before I left for Jeremiah's dr. appt...I was a little late...Ooops) and another pen Thursday evening.  Mom and Dad came just in time to help us finish those ones.  We were able to butcher the rest on Friday morning.  It was really nice butchering weather (except for Josh since he was wet the whole time and it was pretty cold).  It was nice to have the day to relax on Saturday!

On Saturday we picked and blanched/froze LOTS of broccoli and peas.  It was nice to have the help!
