Productive weekend at home

So Josh finally got the skunk...On Friday we had a south wind, making any stench blow away from the house and the neighbors.  Josh got a little closer and lined up straight with the trap to ensure the bullet would go straight through and hit the skunk (quite a few times;).

We got a lot done on Friday...Josh finished tilling the gardens and put the tiller away for the year.  We mulched the small strawberry beds, my herb garden, the asparagus, rhubarb, and horse radish.  We cleaned up our outdoor fall pumpkin display, giving the pumpkins to the chickens and using the straw for mulch.  The chickens are still working on the pumpkins...They're out as soon as they can kinda see outside pecking on them.  Josh got the gutters cleaned out (for the first time since we've lived here...They were so bad that it wasn't just leaves, but dirt).  I got all the poop (Cat and Dog) cleaned up around Cedar's house cleaned up.  (There's already a bunch of new droppings.)  Josh got his shop cleaned up...Now he can work on making Christmas gifts.  We got all the popcorn shelled...45lbs~6 1/2 gallons.  We're hoping to sell some of it at Santa Days.  We also made that horse radish...Well, Josh made it.  I just peeled the roots.

Saturday was supposed to be stormy, so Josh planned on mounting his wood duck he shot at Jake's.  It turned out to be nice, but he mounted it anyway.  I worked on making jelly for Santa Days.  I got 25 half pints and 8 pints of beet jelly!  I hope people like it!  After Josh was done mounting the duck, we wanted to get outside.  We took the kids out and played with them and took a walk around the pasture.  Johnny walked the whole way by himself, then he ran around the big pasture garden about 3 times.  He was tired after that!

Josh wanted more pics of his mounting process.  He only told me this once, so I only took pics once...Ooops!  I need to get better at taking more pictures.  I've been kinda slacking lately.

Josh used this roll of paper to cover the table while he mounted the duck.  The kids found it and thought it was a great toy!

On Sunday, we spent the afternoon watching football and shelling beans.  We still have one box left.  I will be very glad when we're done with them, since they're being stored in our bedroom.  Cedar got to come into the house for a while since it was really windy out and we felt sorry for her.  The kids really enjoyed playing with her.

It was almost naptime.  Johnny wanted to go to bed with Cedar.
Lu Lu liked playing with Cedar too
