Food for Thought

You are too attached to money and the things of this world.

I get these food for thoughts everyday in my e-mail.  I read this one right after paying bills.

Chickens are chopped

Last weekend we spent butchering chickens.  It was just Josh and I, and we got 'em all chopped.  It was quite the accomplishment to do 77 each day (Thursday & Friday) all by ourselves.  It took about 6 hours each day from the first chicken caught in the pens to the end of clean up (which takes forever!).

The weekend before Josh and the boys went camping in Medora for Jared's bachelor party while me and the kids and the girls stayed in New Salem to hold down the fort and go rummage saling.

Here's some pics from the last couple weeks...

Jeremiah is a big stander.  He loves to hold your hands and walk.  He can take a step or two by himself too.

No pics

Jared and Stacie came out for Memorial Day weekend.  They helped us plant and weed in the gardens.  I have a bunch of pics on the CSA blog.  www.logreenacrescsa.blogspot.com

I haven't taken any pics this week...Ooops!  Except for this one.  The low battery had been blinking at me when I was taking garden pics last.  I wanted to see if it still was, so I took of pic of Jerry.  He was coming after me fussing, but stopped for the camera.:)

We've been busy in the gardens and getting ready for Jared's bachelor party.  The boys are going out to Medora and us girls and kids will be hanging out here and rummage saling.

Johnny's been a big helper lately.  He's so good in the garden.  He was weeding in his beet row (in his garden).  Everything was really little and I said "wait Johnny til I can help you".  He said, "Mom, I'm just pulling the grass!"  Sure enough he was just pulling out grass seedlings.  I told him how to thin the beets and he did an awesome job at it!

Lu Lu is now Cinderella.  At least that is what she wants to be called.  Sometimes it drives me crazy...Lu Lu please pick up your toys.  I'm not Lu Lu, I'm Cinderella!!!  Okay, Cinderella, please pick up your toys...  She can talk way too good!

Jeremiah is almost ready to walk.  I watched him stand up and think about taking a step today toward Johnny before he got down and crawled to him.  He's starting to talk a lot more too (just babble).

Okay I better go, Jeremiah is growling in bed waiting for me to get him up.

Last Minute Trip

We didn't get the chicks we ordered on Thursday.  They messed up the order, so we won't get our chicks til next week.  This allowed us to make a last minute trip to Jake and Ruth's to congratulate Jared on finishing the Fargo Marathon.  We spent Saturday night at Jake and Ruth's house.  It was a lot of fun!

We got some much needed rain this weekend...2 1/2 inches so far.  It is so uplifting!
